Panchkarma

Panchkarma is the Ayurvedic detoxification by five cleansing therapies or body purification process. These include Oil Massage, sweating therapies, Nasya, localized bastis, mild herbal enemas and purgatives, along with dietary regimens and herbal supplements, per individual constitution and conditions. Panchkarma is an individualized process of Rejuvenation and Detoxification. It's a purification program of flushing out the accumulated toxins and maintenance of health.

Panchkarma is a unique, natural, holistic, health-giving series of therapeutic treatments that cleanse the body's deep tissues of toxins, open the subtle channels, bring life-enhancing energy, thereby increasing vitality, inner peace, confidence and well being.

Panchkarma reverses the mechanisms that carry toxic waste products from the digestive tract into all the other tissues of the body. In other words, it reverses the movement of ama, bringing it back to the digestive tract, and then gently expels it from the body. Furthermore, it manages the doshas according to your individual constitution (and dosha imbalance). In this sense it is unique, since it is tailored to meet your individual needs.

The name Panchkarma comes from the Sanskrit words panch, which means "five," and karma, which means "action." The name thus incorporates the five primary actions or procedures used in Ayurveda to purify the body - vamana, nasya, virechan, raktamokshana and basti. Each of these procedures addresses a specific imbalance of the doshas and the ama that forms as a result.
